There are plenty of opportunities to join in this year’s 40th anniversary Bridport Carnival.

There are competitions, events and activities in the weeks building up to the big weekend.

Firstly, there’s the Bridport Carnival Princess competition. The Junior Bridport’s Got Talent royalty selection night is on June 26. See the Carnival Princess section on this website for more.

There’s also carnival bingo, golf, darts, a car boot sale and quiz night. We want local groups, firms, schools, organisations and individuals to enter the carnival procession on August 20.

Want to join in with the procession? Download, print off and fill in the entry form - bridport carnival entry form.doc

There’s also the chance to join in the stunning torchlight procession on August 21. Up to 2000 people usually take part as the river of fire snakes its way through town.

Do you have a special memory of being involved with Carnival years ago?

The current Carnival started in 1971 - were you a child then ? Or did you meet your husband/wife at Carnival?

How many generations of one family have attended Carnival over the years? Has your community group been one of the many beneficiaries of funding raised by Carnival or have you benefited personally?

How has Carnival touched your life? We would love to hear your stories and with your permission will reproduce them on this website.

We also want to hear from any local causes and charities who want to be a beneficiary in the DT6 area that can help out on the carnival night and torchlit procession night.
